Adjusting to life in a new country can be both exciting and challenging, particularly for children and young people who have their own unique experiences, needs and rights. That’s why our approach to settlement support has a specific focus on supporting newly arrived children and young people’s developmental needs, recovery from trauma, capability and agency.
We provide refugee and migrant families with support to build safe and stable home environments, grow parenting skills and confidence, and ensure families are well connected to their local communities.
All 54 reasons services are culturally responsive and trauma-informed, we employ local staff who reflect their local community, partner with local multicultural organisations and offer flexible rights-based support.
Our settlement services across Australia support children's development, language and life skills, community connection, education, and family wellbeing.
Supported playgroups, family support, life skills classes and Homework Club for newly arrived families in Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland.
A range of support programs across Australia for children, young people and families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Services offer practical supports, advocacy for issues such as housing and employment, safety and needs assessments, financial wellbeing and warm referrals to additional specialist supports.
1 in 3 migrant women in Australia has experienced domestic and family violence. Our teams are trained to identify signs of family violence among clients in our programs, and support women and children at risk. We also deliver a range of family violence programs including crisis accommodation across Queensland; and case work, support, education, capacity building and primary prevention in Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria.
